Chinese technology company, Xiaomi, is currently plagued by scarcity of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor for its flagship smart phone, the Mi 6. The scarcity of this processor chip is making it nearly impossible for Xiaomi to manufacture enough Mi 6 smartphones to meet global market demands.
Apart from the scarcity currently being experienced with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, Xiaomi is also facing availability issues with the Ceramic body needed for the Mi 6 smart phone. The Ceramic body is required for the special edition of the Mi 6 smart phone.
According to market analysts, the scarcity of Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor is not unconnected with the fact that Samsung and Sony use the chipset for their smartphones too. Samsung uses the processor for its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones, while Sony uses it for its Xperia XZ Premium smart phone.
Xiaomi’s Mi 6 smart phone is available in China and not anywhere else – largely because both the QS 835 chip and the Ceramic body are not sufficiently available for its special edition smartphone. When the stocks for both materials will be available is currently unknown.
Xiaomi’s Mi 6 smart phone is expected to be released on September 25, 2017. It runs on the Android v7.0 Nougat operating system and comes with dual nano SIMs. It supports 2G, 3G and 4G networks. There is a fingerprint sensor for security purposes at the front of the smart phone, and it also features other optional sensors such as light sensor, proximity sensor, accelerometer, barometer, compass and gyroscope.
The smart phone runs on a custom user interface MIUI 8 version with an Adreno 540 graphics technology. The Mi 6 is 7.4 mm thick with a width of 70.4 mm and weighs 168 grams. The height is 145.1 mm. The phone comes in three colour variants: black, blue and white. It goes without saying that the smart phone has a capacitive touchscreen and its screen resolution is full HD of 1080 by 1920 pixels.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 smart phone has an internal memory of 64 GB and a 6 GB RAM. It has a 8 MP front camera and a 3,350 mAh battery with a fast-charging Quick v3.0 capacity.
